William R. “Bill” “Shorty” “Smokey” Redding • May 13, 2020



William R. “Bill” “Shorty” “Smokey” Redding, 87of Pensacola, Florida passed away on May 13, 2020.
He was born in Seaboard, Alabama. William served in the US Navy and was an Aircraft Mechanic for the Civil Service. He was a member and deacon of the Pensacola Baptist Temple as well as a member of the Disabled American Veterans AL Gray Chapter.
William is preceded in death by his mother, Fannie Mae Flynt Redding; father, James Leon Redding; two brothers, James Leon “Jack” Jr and Marlin E. Redding; two sisters, Mildred Pippins and Margie McLeod.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Fairy E. Redding; daughters, Lorie Mizell and Lisa Rutter; grandsons, Andrew Mizell (Courtney) and Brandon Mizell (Ashley); great-grandsons, Payton Mizell, Fynn Mizell, Carter Mizell; great-granddaughter, Hailey Mizell; and great-grandson on the way, William Mizell.
A visitation will be held at Pensacola Baptist Temple on Tuesday, May 19, 2020 from 10AM until the service begins at 11AM with a graveside service to follow at Pensacola Memorial Gardens Funeral Home.
The family would like to thank all the nurses and doctors at Baptist Hospital for their heartfelt care and compassion as well as all William’s family and friends for their prayers, support and love during this time.

  4. Ms Fairy, Lori and Lisa, I am truly sorry to hear of Mr Bill’s passing. The only thing that brings me comfort is knowing as Lorie said he’s with our precious Lord, wrapped in his arms. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.
