Wanda C. Stevens, 85, was called home to be with the Lord on January 10, 2023.
Wanda was born August 13, 1937, in Freeport, Florida. She accepted Christ as her Savior as a young child and was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church for 62 years. Wanda graduated from Walton High School in 1956. 1957 she decided to make Pensacola her new home, working at The Chemstrand Corporation (Monsanto) for 5 years before leaving to start her family.
Wanda was known for her kindness and her gentle way especially for her family–they were always #1 in her heart. She loved her church and the Lord and served faithfully. She also loved sports, as a young woman, playing basketball and bowling. She loved watching her children and grandchildren play sports, making every practice and game that she could.
She also loved the outdoors, loved her flowers and working in the yard and garden with her husband. Mostly she loved to cook and bake with her husband, together they would create family meals for the entire family to gather and enjoy. Wanda loved camping and travelling, seeing new places, but mostly exploring and spending time with family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, WA and Marjory Cuchens; brothers, WA Cuchens Jr; Roy Cuchens; Hubert Cuchens; Howard Cuchens and sister, Olive Watson.
Wanda is survived by her husband, of 62 years Williams E (Pete) Stevens. Her son, Greg (Margaret) Stevens. Her daughter, Kim (Pat) Thomason. Grandchildren, Kee Stevens, Tyler (Kaitlyn) Thomason, Heather (Brian Bess) Thomason, Trey Stevens and Jessica Welch. Her great grandchildren, Theadora Thomason, Barrett Thomason, and Beckett Avery Bess; and two sisters, Wynell (Greg) Welch and Marie Hansley.
Pallbearers: Kee Stevens, Tyler Thomason, Trey Stevens, Brian Bess, Pat Thomason and Lee Carnley.
Funeral Services will be held at Pensacola Memorial Gardens, January 16, 2023, with Senior Adult Pastor Pat Mobley in charge of services. Visitation at 10 AM, services at 11 AM.
