Victor S. Olsen, III, 77, of Cantonment gained his wings on August 7, 2022. Vic passed away peacefully surrounded by his girls. He was instantly your best friend and an adoptive dad to all of the young people who held him in such high esteem. Vic was a member of the IBEW 1055 union and the Delta Kappa Alpha Fraternity, which were organizations that played an important role in his life over the years.
Vic was preceded in death by his father Victor Olsen, Jr, his mother Gladys Barnette, and his stepfather W.O. Barnette. He is survived by his wife, Joyce; his daughters, Meredith and Lori (Jeff); his grandchild, Rebecca; his brother, Jim (Kaye); his sister, Laura; his beloved cats; and numerous other extended family members. Vic and Joyce shared 46 years of marriage.

A celebration of Vic’s life will take place on Saturday, August 13 at Pensacola Memorial Gardens. Visitation will begin at 1:00 pm, with a service to follow at 2:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations are welcome in Vic’s memory to the Pensacola Hotel for Dogs and Cats, or to a charity of your choosing.

    Uncle Fritzi was the kindest person who always knew how to make you laugh. He always kept in touch with me through the years even though we lived far apart. He will be missed.

    Vic Olsen is my brother, my friend and my source of comfort. Vic was a compassionate and fair person. He never judged anyone. My brother was a rock that I could always count on to be there for me during some trying times in my life. My brother will be so missed by me and others he has been there for. I love you brother.

    Vic and I were lifelong friends. More than that, he and I shared the brotherhood of Delta Kappa Alpha Fraternity. Every time I saw Vic, he would always say, “We need to get together some time real soon.” I know that he meant every word. I could always count on Vic, no matter what. I will miss him sorely.

    I knew Vic for over 30 years and although we were not close
    he always treated me like we were. He was a great guy and will be missed by all who knew him.
