On Monday, December 7, 2020, Theresita Lazo Vallete passed away surrounded by family and friends at the age of 79. She was born on August 20, 1941 in Isabela, Philippines to the late Enrique Lazo Sr. and Faustina Acosta Lazo.

In the Philippines, she received a degree in Midwifery and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She practiced Nursing in Massachusetts, Virginia and Louisiana. She became the Director of Obstetrics Department at Jo Ellen Smith Hospital and a Clinical Instructor of Certified Nursing Assistant Training Program of Jefferson Parish Community College in Louisiana. She completed Family Planning Program and received her certification as a Nurse Practitioner in Obstetrics and Gynecology in California, practiced at Kaiser Permanente Medical Center until she retired in 2003 and moved to Pensacola, FL where she became a long-time resident.

She was married to the late Sam Vallete, Master Chief of the United States Navy in October 28, 1971. She and her husband co-founded “Kapit-Bahay”, a Filipino-American Association in New Orleans, LA.

She enjoyed traveling, dancing, gardening, option trading, listening to classical music and Elvis Presley’s songs and singing to karaoke with family and friends.

She is survived by children Marilou (spouse Rex), Alex (spouse Terry), Joel (spouse Jaime), and grandchildren Allison, Aiden, Avery, Jett and Jaxon. She was also survived by siblings Enrique Lazo Jr., Rudy Lazo, Thelma Sonza, and Mel Lazo.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Pensacola Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home, 7433 Pine Forest Road, Pensacola, FL 32526, Monday, December 14, 2020 from 10:00-11:00am. Funeral service will begin at 11:00am.
