Heaven gained a very special man on Monday, July 29, 2019. Wayne Houston will be dearly missed by his family and everyone who knew him. He left a legacy of love, kindness, and generosity for his children and grandchildren to follow. He had an incredible sense of humor which will be missed by everyone who loved and enjoyed being around him.
Wayne was preceded in death by his father, James R. Houston and his mother, Jeanette Houston. He is survived by his children, Christopher, Matthew, and Heather; two grandsons, Shaun and Samuel; two brothers, Larry and Ernie; a most absolute special friend, Lonnie Flowers; and many friends and relatives.
Wayne graduated from Escambia High School (1968), attended Pensacola Junior College, served honorably in the U.S. Army (1969-1971), and was employed at Monsanto, Solutia/Ascend for 51 years. He was an incredibly hard worker and well known for his quick humor and giving spirit. “Thanks for the memories” I.A.A.W.Y.
Funeral services will be held Friday, August 2, 2019 at Pensacola Memorial Gardens with a Visitation from 10:30 am- 11:30 am with services starting at 11:30 am. Interment will follow at Pensacola Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Baptist Hospital for the care and compassion shown to them during this difficult time.
The family also requests donations to be made to one of the following charities in lieu of flowers: The Gary Sinise Foundation, Freedom Service Dogs of America and the Fisher House Foundation.

    Wayne was a great man and will truly be missed. We worked together a long time ago and even though I didn’t see him very often, it was always just like old times when I did run into him. Always smiling and laughing, he was so kind and would make my day better when I saw him. He was very proud of, and always bragging on his kids.

    I only met Samuel Houston twice, both times at birthday parties for his grandson Samuel Cook. I found him to be very personable and friendly. I offer my condolences to all of his family and friends. I am sure he will be sadly missed by all.

    Wayne was a very kind and giving man. I am grateful that I got to spend the time with him I did. He always had something funny to say and when things weren’t going so well, he always had words of encouragement.
    Wayne will be missed by everyone he has touched in his life.

    I worked with Wayne for many years and even after I left my job at Solutia , I continued to see him on my visits to ascend with my new job. Wayne was always smiling and happy. I would always leave in a better mood after being around him. My condolences to his family. He will be missed!

    I’ve missed working with Wayne for some time now. He was always professional while at the same time truly cared about his co workers. He could always make you laugh when you needed it the most. In Wayne’s memory, we should all try to be more loving, caring,and helpful to our fellow brothers and sisters for we are all Gods children. Of course making people smile and laugh as well. Love and prayers to his family and friends that have been blessed to know him.

    I just want to say that Wayne was a Great Friend of mine,I Work with him and he would come to my Office ever morning to drink a cup of coffee with me and have something funny to say and just see how I was doing.He always listened to my worries and would say the right words to help me feel better.He Loved his Kids ,Grandkids and friends. I am Thankful that God Give me the Opportunity to know Wayne and I miss him so much.Wayne was as a Father,Brother and a Friend to me.

He was always laughing and cared about everyone he came in contact with. As a perpetual legacy, we ask that you share some stories about dad on his Facebook page for us all to enjoy.
