Samuel Dean Lee • November 13, 2021

Samuel Dean Lee passed away on Saturday, November 13, 2021. He was 60 years old. Sam was born on April 3, 1961 in Pensacola, FL to Thomas Lee and Milda (Lockstead) Castleberry. He received his bachelor’s degree in engineering from the University of Florida in 1985. He raised two sons, Nathaniel and Michael, with their mother, Teresa.
Sam started his engineering career in electrical design and transitioned to construction management for the Department of Defense. Before his retirement, he oversaw countless renovation, remodel, and new construction projects at NAS Pensacola across his 27 year career. Sam was also a passionate woodworker. Many close friends, members of his family, and churches he was affiliated with have been blessed by beautiful creations of hardwoods and his favorite softwood, aromatic cedar.
Among his roles as a Christian, professional engineer, woodworker, and loyal friend, Sam was a father that loved spending time with his boys. He coached his sons on baseball diamonds and soccer fields. He shared his passions of fishing and music with them. He taught them to pray. He showed them how to love and how to be men.
Sam was preceded in death by his father, Thomas, and his younger brother, William Henry Lee. He is survived by his sons, Nathaniel and Michael, his mother, Milda, and his grandchildren, Emmie, Jonah, and Piper.
A visitation will be held for Sam on November 30, 2021 from 5-7 PM at Pensacola Memorial Gardens. The address is 7433 Pine Forest Road, Pensacola, FL 32526. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Myrtle Grove United Methodist Church at 1030 N 57 Ave, Pensacola, FL 32506.

Lee Family- Sam will be missed. As much as we kidded each other about Gator football, major & minor league baseball plus golf events, his passing was a shock. I always enjoyed his company and good will. Sam was an exceptional electrical engineer and became my “go to” engineer. Sam was extremely reliable and technically knowledgeable for every thing he was asked to achieve. I will dearly miss him. May God welcome him into Heaven. I will fondly remember his spirit and personality forever.
