Robert (“Bobby”) Olan Jackson of Pensacola, FL
passed away on August 12, 2020. Robert O. Jackson, known as “R.O.” by coworkers, was a civil employee of the Naval Air Station (Naval Aviation Rework Facility) as a planner and estimator of aviation for 25 years, until he retired in 1993. During those years he traveled all over, including Hawaii, Japan, and the middle of the Indian Ocean on an aircraft carrier. Where ever he traveled, he never failed to bring back colorful presents for the whole family. In his thirties, he was the President of a social club called the Singletons where he met his wife of 45 years, Loretta L. Jackson, and they danced many nights away. He loved watching sports, but especially Florida Gator football, anyone who knows him can attest to his spirited support for the Gators. He was on a bowling league for over 30 years called the Jackpots, along with his wife and beloved friends Ernie and Betty Potter. His laughs and banter could be heard throughout the lanes. He loved to go fishing on Perdido River and enjoyed many years of annual trips down to Lake Okeechobee. He also enjoyed shrimping when he was younger on his Dad’s boat. He loved being around his family, but most of all his only grandson Ramsey, who always brought a huge smile to his face. He is preceded in death by his father, Joseph Edward Jackson, his mother, Ruby Doris Bell Jackson, and his brother, William Edward Jackson. He is survived by his wife Loretta L. Jackson, his stepdaughter Candy M. Sellers, his daughter Jamie C. Jackson Dos Santos (son-in-law Roni Dos Santos), grandson Ramsey J. Dos Santos, his sisters Pamela D. Jackson and Shirley J. Jones (brother-in-law Robert “Bob” Jones), sister-in-law Jo Jena Noto Jackson, and his mother-in-law, “Mema” Ruby L. Leiterman, and several extended family members.
We extend a big thank you to all of the people who helped take care of him over the past year, especially all of the loving people at Arcadia Health and Rehabilitation. We would also like to thank everyone who took out time to visit with him and keep him company, it truly meant so much to have your help and support.
