Roanna Marie Griffith passed away peacefully in her sleep on Nov 2, 2020 in Pensacola, Florida. Roann was born Dec 10, 1936 in Springfield, Ohio. Roann is survived by her loving husband of 65 years Fred L. Griffith, her two children Scott Griffith (wife Mary Kate) of Pensacola, FL; Toni Roberts of Springfield OH; 7 grandchildren (Stacia, Dan, Adam, Megan, Shawn, Elizabeth, and Scott); and 11 great grandchildren.
Roann was born to Carl and Marie Wheldon in Springfield, Ohio, the youngest of three girls. Roann graduated from Springfield High School where she met the love of her life. After dating for 3 years, Fred and Roann married on Sept. 2, 1955 enjoying 68 years together. Roann spent 33 years as an executive secretary to the president of the corporation SPECO. Eventually the company closed its doors, and Roann retired to Pensacola, FL with her husband Fred.
In Pensacola, Roann volunteered for the Council on Aging at Apple Market craft booth and Catholic High School library. An avid and talented crafter, she loved ceramics, cross-stich and crochet. Roann and her two sisters formed a crafting business which funded their sister-only annual vacations. Roann will mostly be remembered for her generosity as she never forgot a birthday. She made and bought so many Christmas presents for her kids and grandkids that nobody would notice if Santa didn’t show. Her family will miss her famous Christmas cookies and delicious potato salad. Her grandkids appreciated that she never forgot dessert. Roann had a special place in her heart for dogs especially Scottish terriers having owned 5 of them over the years.
​Roann will be dearly missed as she was a loving and generous wife, mother, mother-in-law and grandmother. At her request, the family will celebrate her life privately on Friday Nov. 6, 2020.
