Richard Kent Brawner, better known to most as Rick or R.K., of Gulf Breeze, FL peacefully passed away on June 5, 2019 at age 76.

His wish was to be cremated and a Celebration of Life will be planned for later this summer. In lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be made to the American Heart Association.

Rick was born on May 4, 1943 in Indianapolis, IN to parents, Lloyd and Mildred Brawner. He graduated from Indiana State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering. Rick married his beloved wife, Marcia Ann Raab, on August 22, 1964.

He started his career with International Harvester in 1965 and then finished out his distinguished 32-year career with Mobil Oil Corporation/ExxonMobil in 2000. In his retirement, he enjoyed working as a yacht broker and a licensed U.S. Merchant Marine Officer.

Rick is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Marcia; his daughter and son-in-law Angela Brawner Norman and Robert Norman; his son and daughter-in-law Richard Bradley Brawner and Laura Brawner; his sister and best friend Myra Brawner Hixon; four loving grandkids; and his loyal dog Chuck.

He was so proud to be called “Grandad” by his four grandkids: Amanda Leigh Norman, Alexander Bradford Norman, Zoe Marie Brawner and Denyn Lloyd Brawner.

He will be missed by everyone including his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jim and Joyce Raab, and his nephews and nieces who called him “Uncle Rick”.

The Brawner Family would like to thank family and friends for your prayers and support during this time. It has meant so much to us. We would like to extend special thanks to Dr. Colby Maher of Baptist Medical Group and the SINU Team at Baptist Hospital Pensacola for their care and compassion.

He was a great friend and loved dearly by so many.
