We will all miss Richard with his wonderful off-the-cuff response to any situation – bringing a smile to all those who knew him. Richard was graced to have such a loving family, especially the one and only love of his life of over 55 years, my dear sister, Penny Ann. Rest in peace, dear Richard.
To the Dearest and Most Beloved Aunt Penny & Family,
This is Tracy Collings, your niece in St. Louis, MO. Chris & I heard the sad news Saturday morning when I called my Mother,(Kay) to hear her weekly updates, our routine ritual. Chris and I often spoke about a long awaited visit to see you both, my Uncle Richard and Aunt Penny, once he Retires. I thank “God” that we made one very special visit many years ago to your New Home in Milton, FL. What a wonderful and pleasant time it was. One that Chris and I will never forget. I really wanted to return with plans of making some Gumbo for you both! You both hold a special and dear place in my heart. Please let me know if there is anything I can do or need for you and the family.
I will miss my Pawpaw Richard. I will miss our late night ice cream, westerns, and Christian movie watching. The long talks, the comical jokes you cracked, the funny faces you made and your words of wisdom you shared as a father in my life. You were the best father any young lady could have. I’ve been blessed to have been accepted in your family and I do not take this honor for granted. You and Ma Penny will forever hold a special place in my heart ❤️ as well as my adopted siblings, Sean, Kimberly, and Debbie. I Love you all past Heaven. Rest In Love Dad! Till we see you over in Glory. Forever in Our Hearts 🥰
Rain (David) Rich
I didn’t mention enough about my Uncle Richard before, but what a quick witted and often comical conversationalist he was. He showed you love, compassion, concern, kindness, generosity and never asked anything in return. He was a beautiful soul and will be missed dearly! I know his body is at rest, and his Spirit is pain free.
I just want you to know, I couldn’t have been blessed with a better Uncle and his lovely family! I love each and everyone of you. My heart and prayers go out to you all.
My condolences to my Sister Rain Rich and the Perdue Family. Earth has No sorrow that Heaven can’t heal. May God cover, protect and continue to keep you is my prayer.

Mr. Richard was my neighbor and friend. I hope in my life to be as sweet and kind and full of vitality as he was. The immense love he had for his family and the love he showed to those around him is a trait I aspire to. But is was nothing compared to the live and faith he had for Heavenly Father. Thank you for always being my friend Mr. Richard.
Richard was a very good and honorable man. The man I knew believed in honor, family, and country. He was not perfect, but he always strived to be, and he was certainly led by the word of GOD. Thank you for everything Junior, I will truly miss you. RIP Richard Purdue.
