Ralph Hardman • October 11, 2022
Ralph “Red” Hardman, 93, passed away on Tuesday, October 11, 2022.
Ralph was born and raised in Commerce, Ga on May 21, 1929 to proud farming parents, Millard and Sally.
Ralph (or Red, a nickname given from a young age for his fiery red hair), joined the United States Air Force in 1952 and was initially stationed in Japan. Upon his return to the U.S., he was stationed in Miami, Florida where he met his beloved wife, Rosaleen. He travelled all over the world with the Air Force from Miami to Honolulu, HI; Dayton, OH; Tripoli, Libya; and finally, to Warner Robins, Georgia where he retired after more than 20 years of honorable service. Ralph and Rosaleen were entrepreneurial spirits, owning two businesses for many years, B&W Carpet Service and Ye Olde Curiosity Shoppe.
Ralph knew the value of a dollar – and had an eerie ability to “know” the value of any trinket or knick-knack at flea markets and yard sales. He used this power primarily for good but loved to haggle and peddle ruthlessly.
Ralph stayed an avid gardener throughout his life. Even into his later years, he toiled in his garden for hours. Ralph’s produce and the fruits of his labor were his pride and a bounty to everyone he’d share them with.
Outworking weaker souls half his age, Ralph was impressively spry. He gained expertise on many skills over the years, such as gardening, antiques, and carpet-laying to name a few. He enjoyed advising and encouraging younger generations to take the leap and give it a go!
He was humble and kind for as long as anyone could remember. His playful sense of humor, alongside his amusing personality will be painfully missed by all who knew him. Ralph was the beloved patriarch to a big, happy family, and he is survived by his sons, Vince (Ayse) and Kevin (Shelly); grandchildren, Jennifer, Victoria, and Connor; and many nieces, nephews, and treasured friends from all walks of life.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Rosaleen Hardman; daughter, Maria Hardman Cross; parents, Millard Lewis & Sally McClain Hardman; and five brothers and four sisters.
Ralph’s celebration of life will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, November 5, 2022. Contact the family for details. He will rest next to his cherished late wife, Rosaleen Hardman, at Pensacola Memorial Gardens.
