Nellree “Peggy” Horstman, Nana, 88, of Pensacola, Fl., was peacefully called home to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 26, 2020, surrounded by loved ones.
Peggy was born in Ashville North Carolina to Walter Hubert Presley and Willie Mae Drinkard on September 12, 1932. Peggy worked as an administrative secretary in the Grants and Research Department for the Escambia County School District. Upon her retirement after 31 1⁄2 years, where she gained some wonderful lifelong friends, she spent her best years enjoying watching all the great grand and great-great grandbabies that brought her so much joy and happiness. She was filled with love and understanding, and all she wanted was for everybody to be good and happy.
She was preceded in death by her adoring parents, her brother Earl Presley and both of her children Olinda Gail Dannels in 2005 and Teresa Upshaw-Szaltis in 2016.
Peggy was a wonderful and hardworking daughter, sister, wife, and mother of two, as well as a fun, loving and devoted Grandmother of eight, Great grandmother of eighteen, and Great-great grandmother of nine, best friend to all and truly an angel on earth. She leaves behind her sister Jaunita Presley Lucas of Saraland AL, son in law Glen Szaltis, Grandchildren Anissa Allen (Willie Gaines), Preston Minton (Denise), Gregory Traynor, Janina Upshaw (caregiver), Gidget Baesman, Gaylen Baesman (Regina Cash), Jennifer Pollmeier (Terry McQurter), and Janelle Schroeder (Chris Tucker). Her Great Grandchildren Kendra Bell (Milton Wilkerson), Preston II, Shelby and Xavier Minton, Melodie, Stephanie and Trinity Traynor, Alexis Belton (Jordan), Erik Jr., Daisha and Isaiah Jones, Raven Escobar (David), Jade and Paige Pollmeier, Jayden and Kylen Baesman, Drayton and Donovan Schroeder. Her Great-Great Grandchildren Kenton and Jayce Wilkerson, Olivia Hixon, Ariah Knight, Isabella and Liam Delacruz, Adalee Traynor, Amelia Nolan, and Christopher McLaurin Jr. and another on the way. Also her friend till the end and caregiver Amanda McCrory, who was absolutely amazing. She will be deeply missed and remembered for all the days to come.
Services will be held at Pensacola Memorial Gardens Funeral Home on Pine Forest Rd. Visitation is from 11-12 Saturday January 9th followed by graveside services at noon. Pallbearers will include: Preston Minton, Preston Minton II, Gregory Traynor, Gaylen Baesman, Erik Jones Jr. and Kylen Baesman.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Vitas Healthcare, her nurse Leeann, Chaplain Jose and Amanda McCrory for the excellent compassionate care she received before, during, and after her transition to the Heavens.
