Kathleen Carol Meeks • April 18, 2022

Kathleen Carol Meeks, age 87, went to be with her Heavenly Father Monday, April 18, 2022, in Pensacola, FL. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother, sister and aunt. She was born July 12, 1934 in Flomaton, Alabama to Robert and Pauline (Renfroe) Boutwell. Her father passed away early in her life, so Kathleen was raised by her mother and stepfather Fern Travis. She grew up surrounded by a large loving family. She met the love of her life Morris Wayne Meeks, while he was stationed at NAS Pensacola with the US Marine Corp. They fell in love instantly, were married in 1951, had six children together and spent 53 years happily married making a beautiful life. Kathleen was a devoted wife, mother, and mamaw who treasured her family and embraced every moment with them. As a mother she was loving, generous, and kind. She was a longtime member of Plainview Baptist Church and raised her children and grandchildren to love the Lord. She always surrounded herself with her family and friends, which is where she felt most comfortable and loved. Cooking was something she enjoyed doing for her family and her homemade biscuits were always a top request! One of her favorite things to do was sharing stories of old times…which her family loved hearing. She adored her little dog Gracie who was known to be over protective of her. She left a legacy to her family of God’s amazing love and grace, and was an example to all who knew her. We all look forward to the day we will be reunited with her in Heaven.
Kathleen was preceded in death by her husband, Morris Wayne; son, James Cecil; great granddaughter, Gracie Hartjen; parents, Robert Boutwell and Pauline and Fern Travis; as well as her sisters, Mildred Sadler and Virginia Berquist. She is survived by her children, Danny (Lynn) Meeks, Debbie Milstead, Theresa (Ronnie) McClain, Tami (Mike) Lee, Pam Kersey; 2 sisters, Ruth Graham and Janie Shear; 3 brothers, Buddy and Bobby Boutwell, and Fern Travis; 9 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held at Pensacola Memorial Gardens on Thursday, April 21, 2022 from 10 AM till the service begins at 11 AM. Pastor Bill Flannigan will officiate.
