J.B. Mahan, 84, of Pensacola, FL passed away unexpectedly on 8/23/2021. He was preceded in death by his wife, Franziska; daughter, Mary Fussell; grandson, Aaron; parents, Joe Bailey and Emma Gene; brother, Kenneth; and sister, Wanda Barnett (Roy).
JB has left behind daughters, Judy Spear, Janet Simmons (Ken); sons, Harold and Jimmy (Christy) Mahan; eight grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; a granddaughter due in October; two close friends, Wendy Meadows and Robert Folmar; and his Aunt Pat.
JB was born on January 6, 1937 in Fanning County, TX. He graduated from Sam Rayburn High and went into the Army where he met his wife in Munich, Germany. After leaving the service he moved to Pensacola where he worked as a heavy machinery mechanic for the City of Pensacola until he retired.
He loved hunting, fishing and had a green thumb when it came to gardening and planting anything. He also loved to collect rocks, shells and anything unusual. He loved his family and friends and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He will be dearly missed by all who loved him.
Private family services will take place Saturday, September 25, 2021 but friends are welcome to send flowers.
