James “Jim” Burt • September 9, 2022



James “Jim” Burt, age 83 of Pensacola, Florida, passed away peacefully with family by his side on September 9, 2022. Jim was born in Bourbon, Indiana to William Burt and Ethel Corl on June 18, 1939. He has been a resident of the Pensacola area since 1960 and worked as a tool machine mechanic for Westinghouse for 29 years. He was a member of Olive Baptist Church and a member of the Artistic Woodturners of Northwest Florida.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, William and Ethel Burt; a son, Raymond Jay Burt; a grandson, Ronald Jason Burt; and his sister, Shirley Phelan.

Left to cherish is memory is his loving wife of 65 years, Sandra Stutsman Burt; sons, Ronnie Burt (Jeanine) and Richard Burt (Lisa); grandsons, Jeremy Burt, Justin Burt, and Michael Burt; 5 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Jerry Burt (Beverly).

A visitation will be held at Pensacola Memorial Gardens Funeral Home on Thursday, September 15, 2022 from 10AM-11AM with a service to follow. The service will be available via webcast for anyone that cannot attend (see directions below).

    I am so sorry to just learn, Mr. Jim passed away.
    What a wonderful Christian man of God. I was associated with him, and his family through my father, Ernie Bowman.
    I was very blessed to receive several of his wood pieces,
    and he was so very talented. I will always remember the cookouts, at his house, and all the good memories.

    Jim made everyone around him feel comfortable and welcome and I will always treasure the kindnesses he displayed to myself and the entire Shafer family. My parents always held he and Sandy in the highest regard.
