James Bruce “Jim” Hall, III • June 27, 2019

James “Jim” Bruce Hall, III was born on January 16, 1939 to James B. Hall, Jr. and Dorris S. Hall in Abbeville, SC as the oldest of five. He passed away on Thursday June 27, 2019 at Olive Branch Rehabilitation, where he was recovering, and making excellent progress, after suffering a stroke early in May. Instead of taking Jim back in May, God allowed him to stay with his family just a little while longer so we could enjoy his company, laugh at his jokes, and tell him how dear he was to us, and we are forever grateful. A Service celebrating his life will be 10:00 AM Tuesday, July 2, 2019 at Pensacola Memorial Gardens Funeral Home with Rev. Jimmy Crittendon officiating. Visitation will be on Monday, July 1 from 5-7:00 PM also at the funeral home. Burial will be in Pensacola Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

While attending Calhoun Falls High School he met the love of his life, Wilma Mae Awtry. After graduating from CFHS, Jim and Wilma were married in Calhoun Falls on January 6, 1957 and they enjoyed 62 years of adventures together. During those years they had 4 children, two daughters and two sons.

Largely self-taught, Jim worked as an Engineer for most of his career. He worked for several different companies including Monsanto, Instrument Control Services, Brown and Root, and Degussa. Toward the end of his long career, he chose to do engineering contract work which allowed him travel to different parts of the country, and Brazil. He really enjoyed exploring, and always considered himself fortunate to have Wilma by his side. Two of his favorite stops were Alaska and Colorado.

Jim was a devoted husband and father and he will be sorely missed. He was also devoted to the Lord. Both he and his wife were active members of East Brent Baptist Church, and he was an excellent Sunday School teacher. Even after Jim and Wilma could no longer attend church, he continued to study the Bible and had scheduled devotion and prayer list time, each and every day. He loved God. He had a joy for life until he was called home to the arms of Jesus.

Jim was preceded in death by his father James Bruce Hall, Jr. and his mother Dorris Sternenberg Hall. He is survived by his wife, Wilma M. Awtry Hall, his sons and daughters, Charlton B. Hall, Sheila V. Edwards, Candace M. Prince, and Sanford L. Hall; grandchildren, Quentin, Austin, Garrett, Lane, Katrean, Collin, and Dylan; great-grandchildren, Cerri, Aiden, and Fletcher.
