Harvey Taylor Allen • March 18, 2023

Harvey Taylor Allen, (71) of Pensacola, Florida, passed away in his home, on Saturday, March 18th, 2023, surrounded by family and friends.

Harvey was born to Robert and Margene Allen on December 11th, 1951 in Atmore, Alabama. He spent his youth traveling the United States with his Navy Lieutenant Commander father and learned to swim in Hawaii as a boy with his mother. Harvey graduated from Washington High School, class of 1970. After high school he was drafted into the U.S. Army and served three years for his country. One of those years was in Vietnam.

Harvey started college at Pensacola Junior College studying culinary arts and rocks and minerals. He worked as a civil servant at NAS Pensacola. His job was a Messenger so he noticed all the new people along his messenger route. It was there he went on to meet the love of his life, Pamela Marie Black and in the spring of 1978 they married.

Together they embarked on many adventures. From seeing the volcanoes in Hawaii, to being the life of the party in New Orleans, to driving the school bus in Misawa, Japan. Eventually he settled down and bought a house in Myrtle Grove where he and Pam raised their family. Always a natural handyman, he spent many hours fixing their home and helping others with theirs. He loved spending his free time watching football, having a beer and a good loud laugh with family and friends.

Harvey is survived by his wife Pam, two children, Randy (Sam), Ema (Gavin); three loving grandchildren, Noah, Piper, Luke; and lifelong friend and brother Randy Harber (Nancy). Harvey was predeceased by his Parents, Robert and Margene Allen.

Harvey’s service will be held at Pensacola Memorial Gardens on March 27th, 2023. Visitation is from 11:30 to 12:30 with service following. After the service, Harvey will be laid to rest at Barrancas National Cemetery on NAS Pensacola.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to your local Agent Orange-Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund.
