Gregg Scott, Jr. • September 5, 2019

Edward “Gregg” Scott, Jr. of Pensacola passed away September 5, 2019, due to complications from surgery. Gregg was born on October 1, 1957 in Pensacola, Florida, and was proud to call this city home.
Gregg was an incredible father to his daughters, Lauren and Abby. They traveled together and created many memories with one another. He was adventurous and always encouraged Lauren and Abby to live life to the fullest and try new experiences. Gregg was the best uncle ever. He treated his nieces and nephews like they were his own children. He gave them so many memories to cherish.
Gregg graduated from Pensacola High School, and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Auburn University, with high honors. His passion was being an engineer. He found great joy analyzing and solving how things worked and always said “There has got to be a better way.”. He also loved Auburn Football (War Eagle!) and would take his niece, nephews, daughters, and their friends to football games over the years.
Gregg loved to be outdoors, and actively participated in many sports and activities, including skiing, white water rafting, tennis, scuba diving, golfing, and many more. He was his happiest outside. Gregg was a simple man, a gentle spirit, and always had a “more than merrier” attitude. He loved helping and serving others, and participated in mission trips, chaperoned Lauren and Abby’s church retreats, and was involved in many service opportunities.
He was an active, lifelong member in various Presbyterian churches – Westminster Presbyterian, Trinity Presbyterian, and Northminster Presbyterian. Throughout the years, Gregg served as an elder, a greeter, and many other leadership roles.
The Memorial Service for Gregg will be held Sunday, September 8, 2019 at 4:00 p.m. at Trinity Presbyterian Church with Rev. Hugh Hamilton and Rev. CK Moore officiating. A reception will follow at the church. A graveside service will be held Monday, September 9, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Pensacola Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home.
Our family would like to thank Melissa, from Legacy of Hope, for her guidance and compassion, allowing Gregg to be an organ donor, giving the gifts of life and sight. We will be forever grateful.
He is preceded in death by his parents Bernice Pauline and Edward Gregg Scott, Sr. He is survived by his daughters, Lauren Scott and Abby Scott; wife, Mechelle Scott; sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Joe Bane; niece, Tammy McGraw; nephews, Scott Bane and Randy Bane; great niece, Emily Rohde; great nephews, Brennan Rohde and Brady McGraw; and many cousins.
