Glenn Gray Hassell • May 17, 2022



Glenn Gray Hassell, age 77 formerly of New Bern, North Carolina, passed away on May 17, 2022. Glenn was born in Plymouth, North Carolina. He lived in the Pensacola area for 41 years and worked as an E & I Technician for 37 years.

Glenn enjoyed watching as well as coaching his son’s baseball games. He taught the boys how to fish, ride dirt bikes, and motorcycles. Glenn enjoyed taking his grandchildren riding on the golf cart and teaching them how to drive it. The light in his eyes when he saw any of his five grandchildren said it all.

Glenn was preceded in death by his father, Nathan Hassell; mother, Ruby Phelps Hassell; his brothers, Ronnie, Jack, and Wayne Hassell; and half-brother, Harold Phelps.

He is survived by his wife of 47 ½ years, Valerie Richert Hassell; son, Gray Hassell (Alicia) and their children, Lily, Graycie, and Ella; son, Jason Hassell and his children, Gage and Anabelle; his brother, James Hassell (Mickey); sisters, Laquita Peed, Gloria Tarkenton, Sarah Reynolds (Danny), and Carolyn Cayton (Don); two sisters-in-law, Florence Hassell and Maxine Phelps; special daughter, Micki Dale; numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

A service will be held at Klondike Baptist Church on Monday, May 23, 2022 beginning at 4:00PM.

The family would like to thank Luke and Lori Hassell for all of their support throughout this last year.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society in Glenn’s honor.
