Gilbert (Gil) K. Mann Jr., age 86 of Pensacola, Florida passed away on Sunday August 8, 2021, at West
Florida Hospital. He was born to Florence and Gilbert K. Mann Sr. on August 16, 1934, in Lancaster,
Pennsylvania. On September 25, 1965, he was married to Mattie Ethel (Jones) King. She preceded him in
death on August 22, 2009.
Gil loved music and had been a member of the S.P.E.B.S.Q.S.A. (Barber Shoppers) for over 15 years. He
collected several things over his lifetime but the most meaningful was the love and admiration of family
and friends. He served in the Navy until 1960. He then went on to graduate from The Ohio University in
1964, with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He retired from the Public Works Department, NAS
Pensacola. He was an Elder in the Community of Christ and was very devoted to his church family and
worked tirelessly at not just his home congregation but for the Mission Center as well.
Gilbert is survived by three nephews Kenneth G. Gaskill (Teri) of Denver, Pa, Keith R. Gaskill (Ruth Ann)
of Quarryville, PA and Kyle A. Gaskill (Lisa) of Las Vegas, NV.; two stepsons, Larry King (Iva) of Athens,
GA, Michael King (Ruda) of Pensacola, Fl; seven grandchildren, Wendy Little, Bart King(Lisa), Bobby
King(Melissa), Ryan King(Cristy), Danyelle Rainer(Joel), Jeremy King, Laura McMullen(Wayne); seventeen
great grandchildren, Nate Little, Lucille King, Tyler King (Ann), Austin King, Gavin King, Jaslynn King, Nyah
King, Kaydence King, Keira King, Aiden King, Jaida King, Kellen King, Kale King, Morgan McMullen,
Waylon McMullen, Alex King, Carlos King; three great great grandchildren, Mason King, Isabella King, Eli
In addition to his wife, Mattie Ethel, he was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters; Helen Mann
and Esther Gaskill; his stepson Richard M. King.
A small private family service is planned. A memorial service and “Celebration of Gilbert’s Life” will be
announced at a later date.
