Gerry Hobson • April 19, 2021
Our beloved Aunt Gerry, Geraldine Schultz Hobson, 100 of Pensacola FL went home to be with her Lord and Savior on April 19, 2021, at the home of her great niece Denise Windham.
Born June 14, 1920 in Clearfield PA, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Adelaide Schultz. Geraldine was a graduate of Clearfield High School and in her early years was a bookkeeper for an insurance company, having a lifelong fondness for numbers and a memory that astonished all who knew her. She was an avid Atlanta Braves fan who followed every game on the radio.
In 1988, Gerry married Sam Hobson who treasured her for their 20 loving years together. She and Sam spent many happy days with friends on the golf course during their time together in Pensacola. She was a fabulous cook and enjoyed entertaining friends and playing card games.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her devoted husband Samuel Hobson; her cherished son Robert Roy Lingle; sisters Grace Shaw and Gertrude Walker and her nephew James Walker (Mary). Gerry is survived by step-son Thomas Greenlee (Barbara) of The Villages, Florida; and nephews; Jerome S. Howe (Jane) of Lewistown, PA and William J. Howe (Inez) of Alexandria PA.
Following her marriage to Sam, Aunt Gerry gained a new circle of love from his Pensacola family. She lived the last 13 months at the home of her great niece, Denise, who cared for her during the pandemic, making sure that her beloved Aunt Gerry was safe. Even at 100, she had grace, a special sense of humor and a fondness for all those around her.
From her Pensacola family, those left to cherish her loving memories are niece Marietta Roche; great niece Denise Windham (Buz); great nephew John Roche; great-great nieces Brittany Smith (Everett) and Jessica Roche, great-great-great nieces and nephews Savannah, Ethan and Avery and special family friends, Pamela Sandoval and KJ Jack. Not all family in the traditional sense, but in our hearts she will always be remembered as our Aunt Gerry. She left behind a legacy of nieces and nephews and loved them all but developed a special bond during the pandemic for the light of her life, great-great-great niece, Avery Reese Smith.
She was a member of the Lutheran Church of The Resurrection in Pensacola, FL. A visitation will be held at the church on April 24, 2021 beginning at 12:30PM, followed by a service at 1:00PM.
Many thanks to Emerald Coast Hospice, to which the family is forever grateful for their excellent and compassionate care.
