George West • October 27, 2022



George Collis West, 95 of Pensacola, Florida left us October 27, 2022 to meet his Savior in Heaven.
He is survived by his daughters, Norma Endress (Donald), Pam West and his son Greg West all of Pensacola, his sister Mary Weeks (Lewis) of Cleveland Mississippi, 5 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.
George is preceded in death by his wife Norma Jeanne Hodges West, son George Stephen West, grandson John Collis Endress, parents William Berry West and Willie Mae Etheridge, his brothers William Berry, Jr., Charles, Calvin Berry, Leo, John and his sisters Susie Harmon and Jenny Thompson.
George was born in Leland, Mississippi April 17, 1927. He lived in Pace, Mississippi with his family until he joined the US Navy April 4 1945. He served on the USS Crosley (APD-87) in the Pacific as a CB during World War II until discharge July 2, 1946.
He moved to Pensacola for work after the war in 1947 where he met his wife Norma Jeanne Hodges. In 1966 George began working for Fluor Daniel Construction at Monsanto Company. He worked there for over 43 years until his retirement at age 82.
George loved his family and church. All that knew George would say he was the kindest gentle person they ever knew. He loved people, made you feel at ease, made you laugh, and encouraged many with his positive influence.
He will be greatly missed. He is with his Heavenly Father forever.
Visitation will be held at Pensacola Memorial Gardens Funeral Home on Friday, November 4, 2022 from 10:00 AM till the service begins at 11:00 AM.
Pallbearers: Donald Endress III, Aaron West, Mitchell Brown, Eric Perdue, Jay Stromgren and Kyle Zelkie.

    George was my buddy. I enjoyed listening to his stories from way before my time. He was so kind and gentle. I will never forget him, I hope you get coconut cake in heaven .

  2. We will miss George very much. He was a kind , gentle man who always had a smile on his face! We will meet again!

    I know my brother is sleeping in Jesus I enjoyed him reading Bible verses. In church. He sat with me when I had knee surgery for 3 days . I laughed with him till my leg hurt. Rest in heaven my brother.
