Pete went home to be with our Lord and Savior on April 11, 2022. He was born on March 14, 1937 to Mae and George Merritt in Girdletree, Maryland. He was the youngest son of eleven children.

Pete is survived by his wife, Kathryn “Kay” of 64 years; a daughter, Wanda M. Purvis of Pensacola; and a son, Dean Merritt (Lynn) of Pocomoke, Maryland. He also leaves behind a grandson, Bobby L. Purvis III (Chrysta) of Pensacola and three great granddaughters, Hallie, Della, and Lorelei. There are also eleven nieces and nephews surviving.

Pete retired after 45 years in the poultry industry in Maryland along with 12 years as a foster grandparent. He loved the salt water, hunting, eating and spending time with family. Dad loved to talk and he never met a stranger. He would give you the shirt off his back. He is greatly missed.
