Ethel Nowak • April 21, 2020

Mrs. Carlie Ethel Nowak, daughter of the late Hill Peacock and Carlie Elizabeth Long Peacock was born May 21, 1929, in Barnett Crossroads, Al.

She was united in holy matrimony to Ernest Otto Nowak June 4, 1947. This union was blessed with two loving daughters. Ernie preceded her in death on June 10, 1991.

Ethel was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Cantonment and she – along with her beloved Ernie – were instrumental in its founding with the church being built on property donated by the Nowak Family. As a result of her generous spirit and vibrant personality, she was loved by many. Ethel was also an enthusiastic supporter of numerous organizations, but had a special fondness for the National FFA Organization through which she received her Honorary Chapter FFA Degree in 2005.

Ethel’s greatest wish in life was to honor the Lord, but one of her greatness joys proved to be seeing her daughters and granddaughters graduate college before going on to find husbands who were a perfect fit for the family she loved so much.

She quietly departed this life Tuesday, April 21, 2020, at the home of her daughter in Gulf Breeze, Fl. She was preceded in death by her parents, stepmother Florence Peacock, son in lawKen Meharg, and siblings Lucy Peebles, Clayton Peacock and Barbara Graham.

Her life will forever be cherished in the lives of her children: Sandi and husband Roy Laird of Gulf Breeze, Fl., and Sharon Meharg of Rocky, Ok.; granddaughters Allison and husband Jake Schachle of Cantonment, Fl., and Lynsey and husband Cameron McAnally of Spearman, Tx.; one greatgrandson Finnegan Schachle; a host of devoted siblings, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
