Dorothy G. Hutchins, 92, 0f Pensacola, FL died October 29, 2022. She was born in Black, Alabama in Geneva County, and was raised in Phenix City, Alabama. After marrying her husband, Joel, they resided in Columbus, Georgia until his employment as a Computer Analyst at NAS moved them to Pensacola. During her 66 years in Pensacola, she served her community by working as a Secretary at P. K. Young Elementary and Turner-Lee Day School in Warrington. Later, after leaving the school system, she worked in the pharmacy at A & E Drug Store.
Dorothy was also a long-time member of Myrtle Grove Baptist Church.

Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband, Joel Hutchins and parents, Arthur and Nora Grace.
She is survived by her sister, Mary G. Woods; daughters, Kathy H. Roupe (Grady), Carol Elaine Honeycutt, and Lisa H. Tanner (Doug); grandchildren, Steven R. Roupe (Holly), Kathryn G. Roupe, Jacob W. Roupe, Lauren H. Whigham (Michael), Ryan J. Honeycutt, Joel M. Honeycutt, and Gaines D. Tanner; great grandchildren, Michael Roupe, Nora Roupe, Hannah Roupe, Parker Whigham, Gunner Whigham and Emma Whigham; neices, Martha Brim May (Ken) and Elizabeth Brim; nephews, Chuck Wood (Kyla) and Rich Wood (Sherrie); and numerous cousins.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dorothy’s memory to Myrtle Grove Baptist Church, 5920 Lillian Highway, Pensacola, FL 32506.
The family will receive friends for visitation at Pensacola Memorial Gardens Funeral Home from 10-11am Saturday, November 5, 2022 with services to begin at 11:00am.

    I only knew Dot though two of her beautiful Daughters, Kathy & Lainey who I truly adore! We were high school buddies & beyond. I know you will miss this beautiful lady more than anyone can imagine! Dot can be so proud of the legacy she leaves with her lovely family! My heart goes out to you at this very difficult time.

    I didn’t have the honor of knowing Mrs. Dot, but I know Kathy and Lainey. Spending time with Kathy, and knowing how she loves her family well, is a beautiful testimony of what she learned from her mother. Pray you all will sense the peace that passes all our understanding during the days and months ahead that only comes from God!
