Delores Armstrong was born in Evergreen, Alabama on July 25, 1930, to Charlie and Hannah Carter. On June 4, 2022, our mother was ready to be with the Lord and transitioned from this earth to eternal peace and rest.
Our Mother was a self-taught cook, baker, and seamstress, she could also perform minor electrical, carpentry, and mechanical work. She was great at financial planning and budgeting. She retired from Escambia County Nursing Home, July 31, 1992, after many years of service. Most importantly, she loved and protected her family, having raised all 11 of her children and many grands, great grands, nieces/nephews.
She was preceded in death by her loving parents Hannah and Charlie Carter, her husband, John Quincy Armstrong, her daughter Dorothy Jean Knight, son, Charles Morris Sr., 3 grandchildren Charles (Chuck) Morris, Jr., James Morgan and Tameka Campbell, a great niece, Monique Wilborn, whom she raised, and 3 sisters.
She is survived by 9 daughters Lorene Carter, Betty Campbell, Jewel (Willie) Mims, Alfreda Morris, Flora Armstrong, Vickey Armstrong, Delisa Armstrong, Anita (Deacon Victor) Hill, Phyllis Armstrong; 29 grandchildren, 49 great-grandchildren, and 32 great-great grandchildren, and a host of relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends at Pensacola Memorial Gardens Funeral Home from 5-7pm Tuesday, June 14, 2022. Funeral service will take place at the funeral home at 11:00am Wednesday, June 15, 2022.
