David J. Rappa • March 7, 2022

David J. Rappa, 74 of Cantonment, Florida passed away on Monday, March 7, 2022.
He was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Raymond and Carol Rappa.
David was a veteran of the United States Navy serving honorably during the Vietnam War and was employed by Baptist Healthcare for over 40 years. He was a faithful member of Hillcrest Baptist Church. David retired as a Vice President of Baptist Health Care in 2014 and was on the Board of Respiratory Therapy for the state of Florida from 1999 to 2008. He was awarded Clinician of the Year for Critical Care, Outstanding Young Man of America, as well as the 2013 People Pillar Award at Baptist Health Care. He also played an instrumental role in the development and implementation of Wound Care and Hyperbaric units at Baptist Hospital. David was an avid hunter, loved fishing and anything outdoors. The best times of his life were the many adventures he had with his loving family. As common with most great men, he will be sorely missed. The memories his family shares will remain forever in their hearts. His was a life truly well lived.
David is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Timothy Rappa.
He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Arlagene Rappa; son, Scott Rappa (Brandy); daughter, Alyssa Hearn (Chris); brother, Raymond Rappa (Gail); sisters Mary Smith (Alan) and Patti Long (JD); brother, Michael Rappa (Adriana); grandsons, Cody Hearn, Connor Hearn, Nathan Rappa; granddaughters, Emma Rappa and Adalyn Hearn.
A visitation will be held at Pensacola Memorial Gardens Funeral Home on Friday, March 11, 2022 from 1:30pm until the service with Military Honors is held at 2:30pm.
The family would like to thank Covenant Care Hospice for their heartfelt care and compassion during this time.
In lieu of flowers, for those who wish, donations may be made to Covenant Care Hospice.

    May Dave rest in peace, my condolences to his family. Dave was the administrator at Baptist Manor Nursing Home for approximately 18 years when I worked there under Baptist Hospital. He was a pleasant and fair leader. We talked about hunting when he first started hunting.

    Dave was a wonderful compassionate leader loved and respected by his staff.

    I worked at Baptist Manor as a Social Worker he was a very nice guy and walked with me during a major family tragedy. I was blessed to be his Social Worker at Covenant Hospice . My prayers with his family at this most difficult time

    With humor and love I will always remember the things David taught me as a young boy: rips, gorns (a knuckle grinding of your head) and eye gouges, which he practiced on his cousins with great enthusiasm. Love you David. You grew into a wonderful man.
