Claudette Williams was born September 23, 1938 in Marion, South Carolina. She was the 7th child born of the late Frank & Le Nora (Vandross) Askins. Claudette was 82 years young when the Lord called her home on February 22, 2021.
Claudette left Marion, South Carolina and moved to New York where she married her childhood sweetheart, the late James Alexander Williams. Claudette leaves behind to cherish her memories, two daughters, Gloretta Lawrence and Janet Elizabeth Porter; one son, James Alexander Williams, Jr; two older sisters, Ethel Wilson of Boca Raton, Florida and Evelyn Godbolt of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; 10 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
While she resided in New York she attended the School of Apex where she earned her cosmetology license and became a beautician. She worked retail and was a school aide in a local elementary school. Claudette loved to cruise and travel. She became a member of the Greater Highway Church of Christ in New York, New York.
As a widower, she ultimately worked for Legends Hospitality at Yankees Stadium in Bronx, New York and discovered her passion for the New York Yankees. She worked at Yankee Stadium until May 2019 and then relocated to Pensacola to be closer to family. Family was a big part of her life and she lived her life for her family.
A visitation will be held at Pensacola Memorial Gardens Funeral Home on Monday, March 1, 2021 beginning at 10:30AM, followed by a service at 11AM. The service will be available via live webcast for anyone that cannot attend.
