Barbara “Bobbie” Billingsley • October 4, 2021
Today we mourn the death of Barbara Jane Billingsley. After an extended illness, she passed away Oct. 4, 2021.
She was much loved not only by her family, but many friends.
She was born in Pensacola July 17, 1943. Most of her teen and adult life was spent in the Pensacola area. She graduated from Escambia High School. She graduated from the University of West Florida where she majored in Psychology. She was a life long reader of books and enjoyed reading until her sight was damaged from a stroke she suffered.
Barbara loved her children and grandchildren. They called her “Nana”. When it came to the children, “Nana” believed they could do no wrong!
Her career was in retail. She was a buyer and department manager for Gayfers. She worked in this community, Mobile and Biloxi. After retirement, she enjoyed being a substitute teacher for the Escambia County School System.
Barbara was Christian by faith and was involved in the Baptist Church in her teen years. She and her husband were married in the Methodist Church. They just celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary.
We honor her life and the support and love she gave to her husband and family throughout her life. We will miss her forever.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Arnold and Katherine Griffis.
Barbara is survived by her husband, Bill Billingsley; daughter, Shelly Trevino (Rick); son, Reid Billingsley; six grandchildren, Kayleigh Terrell (Michael), Mallory McDonald, McKenna McDonald, Dillon McDonald, Keelan Billingsley (Shianne) and Lily Billingsley; one great-grandchild, Adalynn Terrell; her sister, Bonnie Lewis (Jim) and Debbie Chavers (Terry); brother, Danny Griffis; nieces, Gina Lewis and Denise Lewis (Paul); godson, Logan Bass; and many cousins and loved ones.
