Almon “Al” Monday • September 26, 2022

Almon “Al” Lorell Monday was born on April 7, 1937 in Marianna, FL. He passed on Monday, September 26, 2022 at home with his family. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Sharon and parents, Mr. & Mrs. Elmer Monday.

Al is survived by his wife of 65 years, Janice; children, Jan, Karen (Dave), and Trenton; grandchildren, Kevin (Becky), Chris and Nic; great grandchildren, Jason Cherish, Eli; sister-in-laws, Gail, Linda, Debbie; brother, LaDon and many other family members.

After graduating from Rehobeth High School in Dothan, AL he joined the National Guard and then transferred to the Air Force Reserve. He served in Desert Storm and retired after 35 years of service as SMSGT. He and Janice moved to Pensacola where he lived the remainder of his life. Al was also a big NASCAR fan. He spent many Friday nights racing at Five Flags Speedway. He became a Shriner and went on to become Potentate in 2000. He was a member of Bellview Baptist Church in 2015 where he became a deacon. It was here where he made lots of friends that helped him when he became sick and visited him until the end. He made a lifetime of friends that were with him to the end. Thank you for your support.

A special thank you to Brad and Marie for all your hard work and support. Thank you Gail for your support during this time of need. Also thank you to Jo of hospice for your great care.
He had many friends and neighbors. Thank you all. You meant a lot to him.
The family will receive friends at Pensacola Memorial Gardens on Saturday. October 1st from 10:30-11:30am with service to follow at 11:30am.

    I flew with Al many times during my 15 years at Duke Field. He was always a dedicated and professional aircrew member; a true patriot. May he Rest In Peace.
