Ada Wallace • November 28, 2020
Ada Mae Wallace 1925-2020. Born in Alabama to Walter and Mattie Jernigan, Ada moved with her family to Pensacola, Florida as a young child. With the exception the war years 1942-1945, Pensacola remained her home her entire life. The youngest daughter in a large family with large personalities, Ada possessed a quick wit, a wry sense of humor, and a perceptive intelligence throughout her 95 years. She loved her family, and she left them a legacy of great storytelling, laughter, mental-toughness, and delicious home-cooked meals. Ada treasured her family’s history while also finding joy in living long enough to know her great-grandchildren. Beyond her immediate family, she delighted in memories of her brothers and sisters and many nieces and nephews. Her humor, insight, faith, and loyalty will be greatly missed. Ada’s husband, William A. Wallace, and her son William C. Wallace, proceeded her in death. She is survived by her daughter-in-law Gloria Wallace, two grandsons Jason Wallace (wife Meg), and Jonathan Wallace (wife Angela); and three beloved great-grandsons William Jackson Wallace, Albert Reese Wallace, and John Cooper Wallace.
A visitation will be held at Pensacola Memorial Gardens Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 8, 2020 from 9:30am until 10:30am. A procession will follow to Barrancas National Cemetery for a graveside service. Please wear a mask and practice social distancing.
