Alex was born to Johnny and Mary Christy on October 9, 1950 in DeFuniak Springs, Florida. He was raised by his loving grandmother, Innie Mae Hughes in Pensacola, where he spent the rest of his life working hard and raising families. He was definitely a professional dad having five daughters. He started as a paper boy at a very young age, drove a lumber truck for over thirty years, and finished his career managing the produce department at a local grocery store, a position that meant the world to him.
He played in pool leagues and softball leagues for several years and he was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. He loved NASCAR. Watching the race was very important to him. He would be fishing every moment of every day if he could.
As life carried on, Alex discovered he had been blessed with a large loving family. In his 40s he met siblings he didn’t know he had and cherished the relationships with them that developed through the years.
He is proceeded in death by his parents Johnny and Mary Christy, Granny Hughes “Momma”, Uncle Preacher, Grandson William “Little William” Warrick, and his father-in-law and pool partner, Yank McGuigan.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Janice McGuigan-Christy, daughters Linda Carol Christy-Warrick (Russell), Alicia Michelle Christy (Hank Carlstrom), Delana Christy (Jenna Wright), Leslie “Donut” Christy Ramos (Josh), and Colby “Legs” Christy, His brother Paul Christy (Maxine), sisters Joyce Christy, Debbie Bjorson (Cal), Sandy Moore (Jerry), his brother-cousin Johnny Christy (BillieJo), and J.D. “Turtle” Christy, aunt Joyce Castleberry, grandson Wesley Warrick, bonus grandsons, Julian and Dakota, Pups Sophie, Sam and Sassy, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Alex was a man that loved the lord with all of his heart, and his Family meant everything to him. He loved his wife and children dearly. He was a firm foundation, a sturdy hand to hold, a true friend…Our greatest blessing. Dad, Husband, Grandpa, Brother, Uncle, Cousin, Best Friend, A Man of God.
His love, loyalty, devotion and commitment were unmatched.
Alex, Daddy…Your love will live forever!
Visitation will be held at Pensacola Memorial Gardens on Wednesday, October 26, 2022 from 1:00-2:00pm, services to follow.
