Mellie “Faye” Rodgers Burch • August 5, 2020

Mellie “Faye” Rodgers Burch of Pace, Florida, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 5, 2020, after a brief stay in the West Florida Hospital. Faye was born on March 29, 1942, in Pensacola, Florida. Although she spent most of her adult life in Georgia, her heart remained in Florida. She moved back to the Pensacola area after the death of her husband, Tom. Faye enjoyed a career in retail sales for many years, eventually retiring from Belk’s Department Store. She loved visiting and vacationing with her children and grandchildren. She always looked forward to family gatherings and spending quality time with her nieces and cousins. In her younger years, she loved to create beautiful ceramic pieces to display in her home. She also bowled in a “couples” league for several years with her husband Tom. Some of her more recent favorite activities included goofing around with her youngest grandson and playing with him in their yard. She also enjoyed many meaningful conversations with her older grandchildren, children, and her brother. She loved to listen to country music and also loved watching a host of different TV shows, especially Pastor Hagee of John Hagee Ministries. She was a huge fan of several soap operas (“The Young and the Restless” & “The Bold and the Beautiful”), faithfully watching them since their beginning. Learning new technology was no issue for her as she loved to play solitaire and other games on her tablet. She entertained us all with colorful stories of her childhood years. Her favorite items were purses, shoes, make-up, & expensive perfume. Her hair was always colored a pretty shade of red as she fought the “grays” of aging! Her greatest passion was her love for the Lord!
Faye is preceded in death by her husband Thomas L. Burch, Sr., her parents Freeman E. Rodgers & Maude Rodgers, and her sister Melvin Gilbert.
She is survived by her 4 children: Jeffery Mueller (Kathy) of Cantonment, FL, Tamara Burch Frutsche (Michael) of Carlisle, PA, Thomas L. Burch, Jr. (Sandra) of Pace, FL, and Melissa Burch Chambers (Jeremy) of Pikesville, NC, 7 Grandchildren: Andrew Chambers (Payton), Noah Chambers (Amy), Matthew Frutsche, Meghan Frutsche, Nicholas Frutsche, Zoe Burch, & Thomas Burch III, and 1 brother: Ray (Hazel).
A visitation will be held at Pensacola Memorial Gardens Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 12, 2020 from 2pm until the service begins at 3pm. If attending, we ask that you wear a mask and practice social distancing.
